HOLD THE LINE
Vom Wesen der Linie (On the Essence of the Line)
As one of the fundamental elements of art, the line enables artists to depict structures, forms and contours. A line can connect, separate or define boundaries. It may be strictly straight or curved, wind delicately or create a dynamic, powerful movement. It may be rigidly horizontal or vertical, or meander freely across a surface. Whether it forms an independent figure or serves as an abstract compositional element, the character of the line defines the rational and emotional aspects of a pictorial space. The two-part exhibition “HOLD THE LINE” explores the essence of the line – the aesthetics, sensuality and radical nature of simplicity.
In another collaboration between Galerie Schenk.Modern and mim | Raum für Kultur, the exhibition brings together works by artists from two centuries.

A new work can now be seen: a large-scale sculpture in a public space. For the next two or three years it will stand on the SKULPTUREN BOULEVARD (Sculpture Boulevard) in Birkenwerder and Hohen Neuendorf northwest of Berlin (Birkenwerderstraße, 16540 Hohen Neuendorf). The sculpture (325 x 205 x 110 cm) is still looking for a fitting title. Suggestions are welcome!
On 16 August 2023 at 11:30 am the sculpture will be officially inaugurated at a press event.
On 19 August 2023 from 3 pm, the KUNSTMEILE (Art Mile) opens on the SKULPTUREN BOULEVARD (Sculpture Boulevard), the annual joint cultural event of Birkenwerder and Hohen Neuendorf. Alongside the 16 sculptures on the boulevard, there will be stalls with arts and crafts, music, workshops and food (3–8 pm).
